About the 20RS-12XWG-W

The GRI 20RS-12XWG-W is a recessed magnetic contact switch set from the 20RS Series, built to monitor a door in a wired security system. The "shortie" body is only 0.63″ long, which suits openings where a full-length 3/8″ press-fit set won't fit, such as thin-framed doors and windows. It has an extra wide 1.00″ gap and a white finish.

Key features

  • The 3/8″ diameter body presses into a drilled hole, so no mounting hardware is needed.
  • The short, recessed design suits thin-framed doors and windows where space is tight.
  • The switch is hermetically sealed, and its plated contacts resist sticking or freezing.
  • It is UL and ULC approved.
  • Standard leads are 12″, or you can choose a terminal block. Longer leads, zip cord or jacketed cable are available on request.
  • Built-in resistors and diodes are available on request, and switches or magnets can be bought separately.

Installation notes

Drill a clean hole for the press-fit switch and seat it fully, then align the magnet across the gap so the contact changes state reliably when the door moves. Connect the leads to the alarm zone and test the loop with the door open and closed before closing up the frame.
