About the 184-12WG

The GRI 184-12WG (model 184-12WG-B) is a wired recessed magnetic contact from George Risk Industries. It mounts in a steel door and reports when the door opens or closes. It suits commercial installers who need a wide-gap, closed-loop, normally open switch, and the self-locking, one-piece design is its main draw.

Key features

  • The 184-12 is UL 10C fire rated, and the 184 series is UL and ULC approved.
  • It has a solid, one-piece, self-locking design.
  • It fits 3/4″ and 1″ diameter mounting holes, and a 7/8″ diameter is available by calling the factory.
  • You can order it with standard 12″ leads or with terminals.
  • The series comes in closed loop, open loop and SPDT versions, in white, brown, grey or black.

Installation notes

Drill the mounting hole to match the 1″ diameter, and keep the switch and its magnet aligned across the gap. Keep the connected circuit within the rated voltage, current and wattage, and test the loop with the door opened and closed before you finish the job.
